Agriculture Victoria Services is the commercial interface between the department and private industry. It protects, manages and commercialises new technologies generated by the agriculture research and development divisions of the department.

Creative Victoria is a division within the department and is responsible for overseeing Victoria's state-owned creative organisations.

Events and tourism

Tourism, Events and Visitor Economy Branch

The Tourism, Events and Visitor Economy Branch undertakes research and provides policy, strategy and industry development advice to the government and industry on the visitor economy. The branch also provides governance support and advice on a number of entities that market the state, secure events, and manage large scale tourist attractions, precincts, facilities and entertainment venues in Victoria.

Industrial Relations Victoria reports directly to the Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet

Mining and resources

Earth Resources Policy and Programs branch

Earth Resources has an economic and industry development focus, supporting and promoting investment opportunities in the earth resources sector.

Earth Resources Regulation branch

Earth Resources Regulation has a regulatory and compliance emphasis, with responsibilities including licensing, risk management and community engagement.

Low Emission Resources branch

Low Emission Resources is investigating and promoting the development of low carbon gas-emitting energy sources and carbon sequestration technologies.

Regional Development Victoria

Regional Development Victoria is the government's lead agency in developing rural and regional Victoria

Small business

Small Business Victoria

Small Business Victoria is part of the Employment, Investment and Trade group within the department.

Victorian Small Business Commission

The Victorian Small Business Commission provides quick, effective, neutral and low cost mediation services to small businesses.

Trade and investment

Invest Victoria

Invest Victoria is the Victorian Government's investment promotion agency, providing confidential services and professional advice to international and domestic investors looking to set up in Victoria. It is part of the Employment, Investment and Trade group within the department.

Global Victoria

Global Victoria works with businesses to build their export capabilities and connect them to international opportunities through the Government's global network of over 20 offices. The group advocates for the best policy settings so that Victorian companies can be competitive in the global arena. It also seeks to attract and retain the best global talent through migration.

Victorian Government Business Offices

The Victorian Government has business offices in key international trade markets - including China, India, UK and Europe, the US, Indonesia, the Middle East, Japan and South Korea - to assist businesses in-market, including connecting businesses with overseas buyers and industry partners.

Development Victoria

Development Victoria delivers property development, urban renewal and major civic projects on behalf of the government for the Victorian community.

Projects include:

  • Precinct renewal, such as the Revitalisation of Central Dandenong, Junction Place in Wodonga, and the ongoing development of Docklands
  • Civic projects, such as the State Library of Victoria, Flinders Street Station and Melbourne Park redevelopments
  • Residential developments, such as Riverwalk in Werribee and CIRQ in Point Cook.


LaunchVic will accelerate startups, drive new ideas and create jobs in Victoria. It has been launched by the Victorian Government in conjunction with Victoria's startup community and the successful Melbourne-grown firm, 99designs.

The $60 million fund will be provided over four years to strengthen Victoria's entrepreneurial and startup ecosystem.
