Automotive supply chain businesses have critical manufacturing capabilities and skills that are important to maintaining Victoria's strong manufacturing industry.
Programs to assist automotive businesses have also been designed to support economic development in the communities most affected by the closure of the major car manufacturing in Victoria.
Automotive Supply Chain Transition Program (ASCTP)
The $5 million Automotive Supply Chain Transition Program (ASCTP) provided assistance of up to $71,000 to help businesses develop and implement a business transition plan, which is designed to identify new opportunities and transition into new markets. The program has now closed to new applicants.
Local Industry Fund for Transition (LIFT)
The $45.1 million Local Industry Fund for Transition (LIFT) program assists businesses retain or expand their workforce in the areas most affected by the closure of car manufacturing, including Melbourne's north, west, south-east, and Geelong.
The LIFT program aims to encourage investment in these regions to help create new sustainable jobs and economic activity. The program has now closed to new applicants.
