Supporting sport, active recreation and racing organisations
The Victorian Government is engaging with state sporting organisations that represent the affected clubs across the fire affected regions to assess the impact on infrastructure and provide support to sporting communities.
Sport and Recreation Victoria hosted an industry roundtable with sport and active recreation organisations on Thursday 13 February 2020 to discuss the sector’s bushfire recovery response.
The Victorian Government has announced that $150,000 of the Victorian Racing Industry Fund program will allocated to provide bushfire-affected clubs up to $25,000 to bolster raceday attractions and entertainment for meetings held this year and encourage people to attend regional races and support local tourism.
Clubs are encouraged to work with the relevant code to identify events that may be eligible for funding.
Victoria’s sporting community is rallying behind affected clubs and communities and to date more than 200 sporting, racing and corporate organisations have pledged to hold meetings, events and conferences in bushfire affected communities under the Victorian Government’s Business and Sport for Bushfire Recovery program.
