It’s never been more important to be connected – for family, community, work and safety.

Connecting Victoria will give more Victorians the opportunity to participate in the online world and stay connected.

For example, we are funding NBN Co to run fibre along streets past homes and businesses in selected locations. In return, NBN Co has committed to install a fibre connection at no charge all the way to the premises where an order for a 100 megabit per second service is placed with a participating retail service provider.

Victorians can find out whether they are eligible for an FTTP connection and register their interest on the NBN Co website. All FTTP fibre funded by the Victorian Government is due to be rolled out by mid-2024, with some locations being able to connect from mid-2023.

Through the Connecting Victoria program, we are also funding the upgrades and installation of infrastructure to improve mobile connectivity at about 1,000 sites across the state. This investment will improve 4G mobile coverage and/or accelerate the rollout of 5G, and improve access to safety information during bushfires and other emergencies.

Better mobile coverage in more places means more opportunities for people to work or run a business from home, and will enable hotspotting in more places.

We will engage with communities throughout the program. You can subscribe to our email for updates.
