Supporting local councils to become small business friendly
Published: 18 June 2019
A new initiative to allow Victorian small businesses to work with local councils is now being rolled out.
The Small Business Friendly Council (SBFC) initiative is open to all councils across Victoria.
Developed by the Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) in partnership with local councils, the initiative aims to cut through red tape and make it easier for small businesses to work with with local council.
Local councils that sign the Small Business Friendly Council Charter are pledging to:
- pay small businesses within 30 days
- support small businesses in managing the impacts of disruptive infrastructure works
- streamline the approval process when starting a business
- help set up and support local business networks.
Among the first to sign up are City of Yarra [pictured], Northern Grampians Shire Council, City of Glen Eira, Corangamite Shire and Baw Baw Shire Council.
